President Donald Trump sent his much-anticipated letter to Congressional Democrats on Tuesday in response to their new impeachment attempts against him.
The president declared their investigation is “unconstitutional” and refused to participate in it, much to the Democrats’ dismay. He also said their investigation is actually an attempt to overturn his victory in 2016.
The letter stated:
“Put simply, you seek to overturn the results of the 2016 election and deprive the American people of the President they have freely chosen.”
If Donald Trump and Mike Pence were both removed from office, Nancy Pelosi would become the President of the United States since she is the current Speaker of the House.
There is also a claim that the Democrats are now interested more in influencing 2020 than actually removing him from office. The example cited was a quote by Congressman Al Green, who stated, “I’m concerned that if we don’t impeach the President, he will get reelected.”
The letter describes Democrat’s attempts to deny President Trump key rights as an American, including:
- The right to cross-examine witnesses,
- The right to call witnesses,
- The right to receive transcripts of testimony,
- The right to have access to evidence,
- The right to have counsel present
There was also a reference to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff’s recent lies when he claimed he and his staff had no contact with the Whistleblower prior to the filing of the report. It was discovered that the Whistleblower had approached Schiff’s staff with the report before filing, who then relayed the information to the Congressman.
