President Barack Obama’s former UN Ambassador Susan Rice claimed today that she was pressured into covering for Hillary Clinton after the attacks on the Benghazi Consulate.
According to Rice’s account, Hillary Clinton claimed to have been “wiped out from a brutal week”, so the duty of handling questions on Benghazi fell on her.
However, Susan Rice’s own mother Lois Dickson Rice was suspicious of the move by Hillary from the beginning. According to Rice’s new memoir, her mother questioned, “Why do you have to go on the shows? Where is Hillary?”
Susan Rice tried to explain the situation to her mother, but she was not having any of it. She told her daughter
“I smell a rat. This is not a good idea. Can’t you get out of it?”
Rice tried to quell her mother’s suspicions, telling her it was no different than other shows she had done before. According to her story, she could not have been more wrong.
Susan Rice was allegedly scheduled to become the next Secretary of State under Obama when Hillary Clinton retired. That all went out the window when she announced the attacks were “spontaneous” and the result of an anti-Islamic video online.
Of course, Americans later learned that the attack which left US Ambassador Christopher Stevens and 3 others dead was orchestrated by terror group Ansar al-Sharia on the 10th anniversary of September 11, 2001 attacks.
The narrative spun by Rice around the attack essentially devastated her political career, however, both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton managed to emerge relatively unscathed.
Susan Rice claims in her story that the events left her mother “furious and obsessed” that the Obama administration threw her daughter under the bus. Susan Rice’s own daughter was supposedly left so traumatized by the fallout that she began having severe hallucinations.
Maris Rice told her mother:
“Now it’s like people, real people but I can tell they aren’t real…they are coming out of the walls. And they move toward me and talk.”
Rice eventually decided to pull her own name from the list of potential Secretaries of State, realizing her political career was over. She still blames “racism and sexism” for her predicament and not Obama or Clinton.
