Twitter has been caught again participating in what is widely viewed as a radical anti-Trump move. This time, they allowed the hashtag “Die Trump” to trend on their page.

The hashtag was actually written in Turkish reading #MahvolursunTrump. Mahvolursun translates roughly to “thou shall perish”.

The trend was created by Doğu Perinçek, chairman of the left-wing nationalist Patriotic Party, was shared nearly 6000 times and ran for almost 24 hours before Twitter finally took action.

A spokesperson for Twitter told the Daily Mail:

“This phrase should not have appeared in trends, and we’re sorry for this mistake. At times, we do prevent certain content from trending and we have now done so with this trend.”

The post came in response to President Donald Trump’s decision to pull troops out of Northern Syria before a Turkish invasion as well as his threat to “totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey” if they do anything he views as unacceptable.

“As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!),’ the president tweeted. “

“They must, with Europe and others, watch over the captured ISIS fighters and families. The U.S. has done far more than anyone could have ever expected, including the capture of 100% of the ISIS Caliphate. It is time now for others in the region, some of great wealth, to protect their own territory. THE USA IS GREAT!”

Politicians across the political aisle have panned President Trump’s decision to pull out of the area and leave the Kurds unprotected. The Kurdish organization in the area, the YPG, is considered the militant arm of the PKK which is designated a terrorist group by the United States government.
